President Xi Jinping has always attached great importance to ecological conservation. Following in his footsteps across China, let's explore his vision of harmony between humanity and nature.

On Oct 20, 2021, Xi visited the estuary of the Yellow River in Dongying, East China's Shandong province, where he inspected the river's waterways and the ecological environment of the wetlands in the river delta, and learned about the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin.

During his visit to the Yellow River Delta National Nature Reserve, a habitat teeming with birds, fish and coastal vegetation, Xi was briefed on local wetland restoration efforts, including converting farmlands and aquaculture ponds back to wetlands and mudflats, which have led to improved ecological conditions.

Xi urged careful management of the wetlands, stressing pollution prevention and a ban on bird hunting and trapping.

Acknowledging the local ecological progress, Xi said, "The Yellow River is our mother river, and conservation is the precondition. We must make unremitting efforts to protect it."
