Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Kazakhstan's newly appointed Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev in Beijing on Tuesday, calling for efforts to strengthen strategic mutual trust, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and elevate bilateral relations to new heights.

Kosherbayev began a two-day official visit to China on Monday.

At Tuesday's meeting, Wang congratulated Kosherbayev on his appointment, noting that the deep friendship and solid mutual trust established between the countries' two heads of state provide the most important strategic foundation for the growth of bilateral ties.

He said China has always regarded Kazakhstan as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy and stands ready to maintain close high-level exchanges with the country, continue to firmly support each other on issues concerning their respective core interests, and deepen practical cooperation in key areas including trade and investment, connectivity, energy and mineral resources, and scientific and technological innovation.

Beijing, Wang added, is willing to work with Astana to play a greater role in promoting regional peace and development, jointly implement China's four major global initiatives, and safeguard the common interests of developing countries.

Wang also briefed Kosherbayev on the recently concluded fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, emphasizing that China will keep comprehensively deepening reform, expanding high-level opening-up, and accelerating the building of a new development paradigm.

China's high-quality development will bring more opportunities for all countries and contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, he added.

Kosherbayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan's firm support for China in safeguarding its core interests and expressed the country's readiness to maintain friendly exchanges at all levels and deepen pragmatic cooperation across various fields.

He said Kazakhstan supports China's four global initiatives and will actively participate in the International Organization for Mediation and the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization.

Kazakhstan, he added, looks forward to strengthening mutual support with China under multilateral frameworks, such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the China-Central Asia mechanism, and the Boao Forum for Asia, in a joint effort to promote global stability and prosperity.
