Chile Week China wraps up its 10th anniversary showcase
Chile Week China marked its 10th anniversary with its final stop in Shanghai over the weekend at Xintiandi, featuring over 50 Chilean companies showcasing their products, services and achievements.
The Chilean Companies and Products Presentation brought Chile's signature offerings to clients and the public from Saturday to Sunday. A Chilean cooking show provided an immersive gastronomic experience, while the Chilean Film Showcase featured three acclaimed films —The Punishment, Pacto de Fuga, and The Eternal Memory. Spanish language classes also engaged participants with interactive activities.
"What we are trying to do here is showcase to the consumers in Shanghai the wide variety of Chilean products that are available," Pablo Arriaran Ahumada, Chile's ambassador to China, said. "We are showing some films and activities related to culture because we want to reach a wider public, not only with trade and commerce but also with expressions of our identity."
Marking a decade of progress, Chile Week China has grown significantly since its inception in 2015. This year's edition ran from Oct 20 to 26 across Tianjin, Chongqing, Shenzhen and Shanghai, coinciding with the 55th anniversary of Chile-China diplomatic relations and the 20th anniversary of their free trade agreement.
"Chile Week has helped diversify our export portfolio," Ignacio Fernandez, ProChile's director general, said "New products such as mackerel, walnuts and fresh pears have successfully entered the Chinese market."
Ahumada noted that while many food products have established Chile's reputation among Chinese consumers, there are also new and exciting opportunities.
"We see significant potential for the development of green technologies and clean energy through various collaborations between Chilean and Chinese companies," Ahumada said.
