Shanghai Disneyland secures global top 5 position with record attendance: report
Shanghai Disney Resort has maintained its position as the world's fifth most-visited theme park in 2024, according to the latest TEA Global Experience Index (formerly known as the Theme Index and Museum Index Report) released by a globally authoritative industry organization Themed Entertainment Association.
The annual report, which ranks theme parks worldwide based on visitor numbers, revealed Shanghai Disneyland achieved the highest growth rate among the top 10 global theme parks, posting a 5 percent increase in attendance.
"China was the primary driver of growth in Asia in 2024, led by Shanghai Disneyland, which set a record of 14.7 million visitors," the report says. The park retained its title as China's most popular theme park, building on its initial global fifth-place ranking achieved in 2023 with 14 million visitors.
Since its opening in 2016, Shanghai Disneyland has launched two major expansion projects: the Pixar Toy Story land in 2018 and the Zootopia-themed land in late 2023.
