Han Zheng meets with president of US' Oregon State Senate
Vice-President Han Zheng met with Rob Wagner, president of the US' Oregon State Senate, on Tuesday in Beijing.
Noting that important consensuses have been reached during phone talks held between the leaders of China and the United States since the beginning of the year, Han said the two countries could and should become partners and friends, as they share broad common interests and promising cooperation prospects.
China hopes the US will work with it, based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win results, to find the right way for the two major countries to get along in the new era, with the aim of benefiting both sides and the world at large, he said.
Han said that Oregon has maintained friendly, cooperative relations with China for a long time. China hopes that Oregon Senate President Wagner and members of the US Congress will continue to enhance communication and exchanges between the two sides, deepen people-to-people relations, and play an exemplary role in promoting subnational China-US cooperation, he added.
Wagner wished the ongoing fourth plenum of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China a success.
US-China cooperation at the subnational level is very important, he said, adding that Oregon has passed a bill to continue strengthening its friendly cooperation with China.
