Stable power supply ensures a smooth autumn harvest in Ningbo, Zhejiang

Golden waves of ripened rice ripple across the countryside as harvest season arrives. In the vast rice fields of Zhang village, Jiangkou subdistrict, Fenghua district, employees from State Grid Ningbo Power Supply Company are busy inspecting power lines and offering electricity safety guidance to ensure a secure and reliable power supply for the autumn harvest.

The village boasts over 900 mu (approximately 60 hectares) of high-standard, digitally managed farmland. Along the field ridges, workers meticulously check transmission and irrigation lines using binoculars and infrared thermometers to identify and mitigate potential risks.

To meet the power demands of the harvest season—characterized by short-term high loads and the simultaneous use of multiple machines—the Company implemented proactive measures. Specialized power protection teams conduct targeted inspections of irrigation lines, grain-drying centers, and farm roads, ensuring comprehensive cover.

"We've developed a 'one-field-one-plan' system to track aging lines and new equipment," explained power supply worker Hu Huadong, reviewing a detailed inspection log.

Beyond on-site patrols, digital tools are also improving efficiency. Using the "State Grid Online" mobile app, employee Zhu Lingjun remotely guides farmers through temporary electricity applications. "We used to have to visit the business hall for this, but now I can do it right on my phone,"said farmer Mr. Zhu, giving a thumbs-up.

As the sun warms the ripened fields, power workers continue along the ridges—inspecting equipment while promoting safe electricity practices. Knowledge of power safety is spreading among farmers, while the fragrance of freshly harvested rice fills the air. Smiling at the golden landscape, one worker said,

"Our goal is simple—to keep every machine running smoothly, every grain perfectly dried, and every farmer's wallet a little fuller."

So far,-State Grid Ningbo Power Supply Company has completed comprehensive maintenance on all irrigation lines across Fenghua District and distributed more than 300 copies of the Safe Electricity Handbook. As the harvest reaches its peak, power workers will continue to stay stationed in the fields, providing reliable electricity support to ensure a safe, efficient, and prosperous harvest season for thousands of acres of farmland.
