Chinese travelers' demand for long-distance and overseas trips surged during the recent eight-day Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, according to travel platform Mafengwo.
Its data showed that family travel led the way, accounting for 52.4 percent of all trips. High-speed rail, valued for its convenience and stable pricing, emerged as the most popular mode of public transport.
Destinations within a three-hour high-speed rail journey of major cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Chongqing were top choices for flexible getaways.
