Tens of thousands pro-Palestine protesters march through central London

LONDON, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Tens of thousands took to the street here on Saturday in support of Palestine, marking two years of the war in Gaza.
Protesters gathered at Victoria Embankment in central London and marched towards Westminster, before crossing the Westminster bridge and proceeding to Whitehall via Waterloo Bridge and the Strand.
Marchers were seen chanting pro-Palestine slogans. "Stop starving Gaza" and "End the siege" are among their rallying calls.
"The whole infrastructure of Gaza, the West Bank and Palestine have been destroyed," a protester only known by his surname Moss told Xinhua. "It's a shame on the West that they are actively arming Israel and providing cover for them."
Metropolitan police said they had imposed conditions to prevent "serious disruption to the local community." Officers at the scene were spotted removing individuals carrying placards that said "We stand with Britain's Jews" from the crowd of pro-Palestine protesters.
The protest came as displaced Palestinians began returning from the southern part of the Gaza Strip to the north after the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas entered into effect on Friday.
Last week, around 1,000 gathered in central London for an event supporting Palestine Action, an organization proscribed by the British government as a terrorist group. The Metropolitan Police said almost 500 people had been arrested.
