Death toll in school collapse rises to 37
Indonesian rescuers were searching on Sunday for missing students after a prayer hall at an Islamic boarding school collapsed almost a week ago. They have recovered 23 bodies over the weekend search, bringing the death toll to 37. The structure fell on top of hundreds of students, mostly boys between the ages of 12 and 19, on Sept 30 at the century-old Al Khoziny school in Sidoarjo on the eastern side of Indonesia's Java Island. Only one student escaped unscathed, authorities said.

Former PM Babis' party wins election
The Czech Republic's opposition ANO party, led by former prime minister Andrej Babis, has won the country's parliamentary election, according to official results from a nearly complete vote count released on Saturday. With over 99 percent of voting districts counted in the election, ANO garnered 34.5 percent of the vote, while the ruling center-right SPOLU coalition came in second place with over 23.3 percent. Babis hailed the election result as the absolute highlight of his political career.

43 confirmed dead in rain-induced disasters
A total of 43 people have been confirmed dead in disasters sparked by monsoon rains in Nepal in the last 24 hours, a government agency said on Sunday. Among the dead, 38 were killed in landslides, three in lightning strikes and two in floods, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said. Incessant rainfall from Friday has triggered landslides and floods across the country, obstructing highways and roads during the Dashain festival.
