Tanzania has hailed China's remarkable transformation over the past seven decades, with the African country's Foreign Minister Mahmoud Thabit Kombo committing to deeper ties and reaffirming support for the one-China policy at a reception marking the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Speaking at a reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Tanzania in Dar es Salaam this week, Kombo described the occasion as a tribute to China's remarkable history and the extraordinary achievements of its people.

He noted that China has "driven innovation, fostered economic growth, and made significant contributions to global development and prosperity", adding that Tanzania regards China's experience as a model for its own national progress.

Kombo also praised China's consistent advocacy of a fairer international order and the two nations' constructive cooperation within the United Nations framework.

Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania Chen Mingjian said the Communist Party of China has united and led the nation through a historic transformation, from "standing up and growing prosperous to becoming strong", achieving remarkable milestones in modernization along the way.

Chen highlighted China's growing partnership with Africa, noting that China has been the continent's largest trading partner over the last 16 years, with bilateral trade reaching a record high of $296 billion last year.

She added that China has also been Tanzania's largest trading partner for nine years in-a-row, with trade between the two countries totalling nearly $9 billion in 2024.

Chen said that the China-Tanzania partnership continues to expand, delivering tangible benefits to both sides and contributing to shared development.
