As China and India mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties, scholars from both sides call for advancing relations beyond the bilateral scope.

Pankaj Saran, convenor of NatStrat and former deputy national security advisor of India, highlighted the shared civilizational values as a strong foundation for bilateral cooperation. Lan Jianxue, director and associate research fellow at the Department for Asia-Pacific Studies at the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS), emphasized the consensus that China and India are not competitors but partners and they should work together for regional and global progress.

The Chinese and Indian scholars delivered these remarks at the CIIS Dialogue on the 75th Anniversary of China-India Diplomatic Relations held in Beijing on Sept 23.
