CAIRO -- Two Chinese were killed on Monday when a microbus collided with private cars near the Giza pyramid complex in Greater Cairo, according to the Chinese Embassy in Egypt.

Seven others, including three Chinese citizens, were injured in the crash, which occurred on Giza's Tourist Road, the embassy added.

According to local news outlet Al-Masry Al-Youm, the microbus veered out of its lane and struck several oncoming cars, triggering a chain collision.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, according to the website.

Road accidents are frequent in Egypt, often blamed on speeding, lax traffic enforcement, and poor road conditions.
