Xi urges Party schools to play better role
President Xi Jinping has urged Party schools to play a better role in cultivating talent and offering advice to the Communist Party of China. Xi, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks in an instruction on the work of Party schools.
Adhering to strict governance and quality-oriented approaches, Party schools should enhance the building of cadre and teaching teams, strengthen management and discipline of students, and strive to improve the overall level of school governance, Xi said.
Party committees should strengthen leadership over organizational work, pool resources and enhance support to promote high-quality development of Party schools in the new era, he added.
Party and State leaders to honor fallen heroes
President Xi Jinping and other Party and State leaders will present flower baskets to fallen heroes to mark Martyrs' Day at Tian'anmen Square in Beijing on Tuesday.
The leaders will be joined by representatives from all walks of life. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Development of people's congress work urged
Top legislator Zhao Leji said on Sunday that efforts should be made to promote the high-quality development of the work of people's congresses and give better play to their functions. Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, made the remarks during an inspection tour in Beijing.
He visited a legislative liaison station and a robotics innovation center, and learned about the legislation work at the Standing Committee of Beijing Municipal People's Congress.
National reunification efforts underscored
China's top political advisor Wang Huning addressed a reception in Beijing on Sunday to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Wang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, highlighted efforts to consolidate and develop the broadest patriotic united front to pool strength for advancing Chinese modernization.
On Hong Kong and Macao, he stressed the determination to continue to fully, faithfully and resolutely implement the policy of "one country, two systems".
On Taiwan, Wang urged efforts to uphold the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus, promote cross-Strait exchanges, oppose "Taiwan independence "separatist activities and external interference, and unswervingly advance the great cause of national reunification.
