As global demand for high tower and hybrid tower solutions in the wind power industry surges, particularly in Europe and the Middle East, Shanghai Fengling Renewables has seized the opportunity to pursue international cooperation.

"We have engaged in comprehensive dialogues and cooperation negotiations with several European countries, including France, Finland, Poland and Serbia, as well as Middle Eastern nations like Qatar and Saudi Arabia," said Sun Yu, chairman of the company.

These regions not only boast abundant wind energy resources but are vigorously promoting energy transformation, creating a robust demand for efficient and reliable hybrid tower technologies, he added.

In Serbia, for example, Fengling Renewables has partnered with CECEP Wind-power Corporation to develop a 2-gigawatt green energy project. This initiative includes a 1.5 GW onshore wind power component and a 0.5 GW photovoltaic installed capacity.

"Serbia urgently needs to transform its energy structure, and our expertise in wind power hybrid tower technology, coupled with our comprehensive industry chain capabilities, provides a solid foundation for this partnership," Sun noted.

The project has now progressed to the systematic planning phase, which encompasses land use, infrastructure layout, and environmental assessments. This marks a critical transition from concept to implementation, setting the stage for future construction and execution.

Sun emphasized that, in the long term, this project will significantly enhance Serbia's renewable energy capacity and support its 2050 carbon neutrality goal. It is also poised to become a landmark project for Chinese enterprises engaged in green cooperation in Europe.

The innovative aspect of this collaboration lies in the integration of multiple parties' strengths to establish a truly complementary cooperation framework.

All parties share risks and benefits while leveraging their unique strengths: Chinese companies contribute advanced technologies, comprehensive industry chain capabilities, and extensive experience in wind power and photovoltaic projects, while the Serbian government provides strong policy support, land resources and a favorable investment environment.

As one of the largest new energy projects in Europe, it has been incorporated into the Western Balkans Green Corridor strategy and holds significant benchmarking value.

The project can substantially increase the renewable energy capacity in the Western Balkans, aiding the region's integration into the European energy system. Moreover, it will offer replicable experiences for neighboring countries and serve as a model in policy design, investment and financing, as well as the application of advanced technologies.

Looking ahead, Fengling Renewables plans to expand its international market presence. "In Central and Eastern Europe, we aim to use the Serbia project as a springboard to expand into neighboring countries and establish a regional green energy cluster," Sun said.

"In Central Asia and Southeast Asia, we also see abundant wind and solar energy resources and are actively exploring cooperation opportunities to advance clean energy implementation in these emerging markets," he added.
