Lin-gang Special Area at 6th anniversary: New projects to boost innovation

Agreements for six major industrial projects were signed in Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area on Aug 19, as part of the area's sixth anniversary celebrations.
The high-profile projects include a heavy gas turbine project, a brain-computer interface verification platform, an underwater robot project and more, with a combined investment of over 40 billion yuan ($5.56 billion).
Spanning key sectors such as integrated circuits, high-end equipment and artificial intelligence, these projects are set to inject new impetus into Lin-gang as a sci-tech innovation hub.
Over the past six years, Lin-gang Special Area has been committed to leveraging institutional innovation to drive high-quality industrial development. By balancing efforts to attract outside investment with support for reinvestment from existing enterprises, Lin-gang has sustained strong momentum in investment growth this year.
In the first half of the year, a total of 85 billion yuan was invested in cutting-edge industrial projects. Fifty-six projects worth 61.2 billion yuan were introduced, while agreements for 29 reinvestment projects worth 23.9 billion yuan were signed by existing companies.
Looking ahead, Lin-gang Special Area will focus on perfecting industrial ecosystems in key sectors such as integrated circuits, civil aviation, high-end equipment, smart vehicles, and digital economies.
By continuously optimizing the business environment and providing comprehensive services for project construction and enterprise development, Lin-gang aims to build world-class industrial clusters.
Lin-gang also aims to leverage its strengths — such as low startup and innovation costs and preferential policies for technology incubation — to accelerate the growth of local enterprises and build Shanghai into an international science and technology innovation center.
