China's National Energy Administration (NEA) has revealed that the rate of clean heating in northern regions had reached 83 percent by the end of last year, leading to a marked improvement in air quality.

The NEA stated it will continue to work with relevant departments to encourage local governments to explore new clean heating models and business formats. It will also advise various market players on the best way to participate in clean heating project investment and operation, promote clean and efficient technologies, and continuously enhance public endorsement of clean heating.

Since 2017, China has included 88 cities in its clean heating support program. The NEA emphasized that a rational selection of clean heating technologies is crucial for the sustainable development of clean heating in northern China.

The NEA added that it will help provinces in northern China to reasonably select diverse clean heating technology pathways.
