Zhangjiajie hosts daring slackline competition

On Monday, Zhangjiajie in Hunan province kicked off a death-defying slackline walking competition. Over 20 top athletes from China and abroad came to show off their courage in front of large crowds.
Contestants were required to walk 1,000 meters on a slackline within a limited number of drops. The event is currently the highest-paying extreme sports competition globally.
Brazilian competitor Gustavo Henrique da Silva Coutinho said: "Zhangjiajie's unique geography adds a special charm to slackline. I've thoroughly enjoyed every challenge here and hope to achieve even better results."
Mateus Vidal said that he was impressed by the kilometer-long slackline, describing it as the longest he'd experienced, and hoped to claim his third championship in China.
