China ready to work with Cambodia for more fruitful cooperation

China stands ready to work with Cambodia toward more fruitful outcomes of bilateral cooperation, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in Anning, Yunnan province, on Thursday.
During his meeting with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn on the sidelines of the 10th Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Foreign Ministers' Meeting, Wang said China supports Cambodia's efforts to maintain political stability and promote economic growth.
China hopes to work with Cambodia to let their intergovernmental coordination committee play its role to enrich the content of the Diamond Hexagon cooperation framework, and make the Industrial and Technological Corridor and the Fish and Rice Corridor yield more tangible results, Wang said.
The Diamond Hexagon cooperation framework is a cooperation plan the two countries have agreed on, which focuses on six major areas — politics, production capacity, agriculture, energy, security, and people-to-people exchanges.
The Industrial and Technological Corridor and the Fish and Rice Corridor are cooperation projects within the framework.
China appreciates the campaign Cambodia has launched to root out online gambling and telecommunications fraud, and hopes Cambodia will continue to take strong measures and work with other countries in the region to crack down on cross-border criminal activities, Wang said.
Sokhonn said Cambodia attaches great importance to its ties with China, and looks forward to enhancing cooperation with China.
Wang also said he hopes Cambodia and Thailand will strengthen communications and restore friendship and mutual trust.
Sokhonn introduced Wang to the recent development of Cambodia-Thailand ties, and expressed his appreciation for China's efforts to promote peace talks and deescalation of tensions.
