Since the beginning of autumn, high temperatures have persisted in Zhejiang.

On August 8, the maximum electricity load across the province reached 128 million kilowatts, hitting record highs twice in three days. During summer, the maximum electricity load in Zhejiang exceeded 100 million kilowatts on 50 separate days. The State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Company has taken multiple measures to increase power supply and ensure the stable operation of the power grid.

In Ningbo, the local power supply company has helped enterprises utilize factory rooftops and other spaces to build photovoltaic power stations and accelerate the connection of new energy sources to the grid. Meanwhile, it has conducted door-to-door visits to photovoltaic power stations, wind farms and other facilities within its jurisdiction, assisted in carrying out inspection work, and ensuring that all the energy that "should be generated is fully generated".

At the provincial level, the State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Company has increased the dispatch of power generating units on the power source side and made every effort to reduce the unplanned shutdown rate of the units. Over the course of the summer, the unplanned shutdown and curtailment rate of Zhejiang's centrally dispatched coal-fired power units stood at 0.6 percent and 0.3 percent respectively, the lowest levels yet recorded.

External electricity is an important force for ensuring power supply in Zhejiang, accounting for about one-third of the total electricity load. According to the State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Company the maximum through medium- and long-term agreements in 2025 have exceeded 43.4 million kilowatts, an increase of 3.4 million kilowatts compared with last year. The company has advanced construction of the electricity spot market, rolled out inter-provincial spot transactions, and continuously increased power supply. The three "West-to-East Power Transmission" UHV DC transmission projects have delivered 19.03 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 54 days, with a stable daily supply of over 350 million kilowatt-hours, providing important support for Zhejiang's power grid to withstand high temperatures and high loads.

The State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Company has also optimized load management by establishing more than 1,300 "government + power supply" micro-grids. In accordance with the hierarchical sequence, it has organized a package of measures such as virtual power plants and peak-load shifting, guiding electricity-consuming enterprises to reasonably adjust their electricity usage time, so as to ensure power supply without affecting economic development.

During the summer, the company reserved load resources including 1.097 million kilowatts for centralized maintenance, 3.7 million kilowatts for peak-load shifting, and 2 million kilowatts for air-conditioning management, establishing a flexible and efficient collaborative dispatching mode for multi-type resources to cope with peak electricity load.
