"Smart drop-out fuse on the Xinwang #3 feeder successfully commissioned; current and temperature telemetry transmitting normally."

On Sunday, in Xinwang village, Mohuan township, Longyou county, the State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company energized the province's first pole-mounted intelligent drop-out fuse on a rural distribution spur line. It was a decisive advance in rural distribution automation and reliability, injecting fresh momentum into Quzhou's rural-revitalization drive.

The intelligent drop-out fuse is a cornerstone device for distribution digitalization. Employing wireless communications, it continuously streams critical parameters— line current, contact temperature— and delivers real-time alarms for short-circuits, thermal limits and fuse operation. This primary-secondary fusion architecture enables pre-fault early warning, rapid fault localization and post-event root-cause analytics, delivering full-lifecycle, data-driven asset management.

As Quzhou's business climate steadily improves, mountain-side processing plants— tea-roasting houses, livestock farms and light-manufacturing workshops— face rising evening-peak loads and limited visibility of equipment health. Traditional infrared thermography campaigns are labor-intensive and reactive. Following rigorous site surveys and technical validation, the company selected the 10 kV Baiwang line Xinwang #3 feeder for the pilot installation. Telemetry from the fuse now populates the distribution management system (DMS), enabling real-time digital oversight and elevating the intelligence of rural distribution transformers.

The successful deployment provides a replicable blueprint for pragmatic, cost-effective distribution automation.

State Grid Quzhou intends to map seasonal demand patterns of specialty industries such as tea and bamboo processing, expand the smart-fuse rollout and refine fault-prediction and fast-response capabilities— paving the way for a resilient, smart rural distribution network that fully underpins the region's revitalization.
