China Eastern debuts Spanish art-themed flight

A themed flight showcasing Spanish art was conducted from Shanghai to Chongqing in western China on Tuesday, with the China Eastern aircraft set to operate the inaugural Shanghai-Barcelona route on September 26, according to the airline.

Themed flights, conducted by the Spanish art-themed aircraft, would operate to destinations home and abroad, including the debut flight of the Shanghai-Barcelona route on September 26, the Shanghai-based carrier announced on Tuesday.

The A350 aircraft is decorated with cabin designs inspired by Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi's architecture in Barcelona and Shanghai's historic Bund, offering passengers an immersive architectural art experience in the air.

The Shanghai-Barcelona route will operate every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday between Shanghai and the Spanish city. Tickets are available for purchase at the official website of China Eastern as well as on the app of the airliner.

Both the themed flights and the Shanghai-Barcelona route are launched against the backdrop that this year marks the 50th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic ties and the 20th year of China and Spain building a comprehensive strategic partnership.

The series of activities also includes themed Shanghai-Barcelona bus routes jointly launched by China Eastern and Shanghai Jiushi (Group) Co Ltd. Covering key urban areas of Shanghai, the themed bus and flight routes would create an artistic travel ecosystem for passengers.
