Chinese artificial intelligence company iFlytek Co Ltd held an international symposium on multilingual large language models at the 2025 World AI Conference in Shanghai on Monday, as it advocates for a second choice in the global AI industry.

The iFlytek High-level multilingual foundational large language models international symposium has attracted 30 representatives from academia, industry, and research across nearly 20 Asian and European countries and regions. And 10 distinguished AI experts from China, the UK, Hungary, Serbia, Israel, Iran, Thailand, Malaysia, and Cambodia delivered speeches.

Liu Cong, dean of iFlytek Research Institute, said, "We aim to build comprehensive multilingual large models and their applications to provide the world with a second choice."

Liu showcased iFlytek’s upgraded large language model Spark Model X1, which now supports over 130 languages. Its performance in key languages—including Arabic, German, French, Korean, and Japanese—surpasses GPT-4.1,the model developed by US AI company Open AI, Liu said.
