Young global innovators offer solutions to world problems

The final of the inaugural Global Development Public Policy Youth Innovation Contest was held at Renmin University of China in Beijing on Monday.
Focusing on the theme of “food security and poverty alleviation”, the competition attracted more than 1,400 young participants from 55 countries and regions. After several rounds of evaluation, 15 finalist teams and 15 observation teams gathered in Beijing for the final event.
Lin Shangli, president of Renmin University of China, told China Daily that the proposals submitted by the youth are of great value, as “they are not drawn from textbooks, but rooted in research and real-world practice”. According to Lin, the outcomes will be shared with the United Nations and other international organizations as a reference for global efforts in food security and poverty reduction.
