SHENZHEN -- Foreign trade of South China's Shenzhen reached 2.17 trillion yuan ($303.4 billion) in the first half of 2025, securing its position as the leading city on the Chinese mainland, according to Shenzhen Customs on Tuesday.

Exports totaled 1.31 trillion yuan, while imports amounted to 858.86 billion yuan. Despite external challenges and high comparative figures from 2024, Shenzhen's trade has demonstrated resilience, with noticeable growth, the customs said.

Private enterprises in the city drove the trade activity, registering 1.51 trillion yuan and accounting for 69.8 percent of the total value.

Major trading partners included ASEAN, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Other key partners were the EU, the United States, India, the UK, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and Mexico.

Exports were dominated by mechanical and electrical products, particularly computers and parts, integrated circuits, and batteries. Imports were similarly led by mechanical and electrical goods, notably integrated circuits and computer parts, according to official figures.
