Xi extends condolences over death of former Nigerian president Buhari
President Xi Jinping sent a message of condolence on Wednesday to Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the passing of former Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday at the age of 82.
On behalf of the Chinese government and people, Xi expressed deep condolences and extended sincere sympathy to the family of Buhari, and to the Nigerian government and people.
Xi said in the message that Buhari was an important leader of Nigeria who dedicated himself to exploring a development path suited to the country's national conditions and was highly respected in the international community.
Nation set to strengthen domestic circulation
Premier Li Qiang presided over an executive meeting of the State Council, China's Cabinet, on Wednesday, with a focus on implementing key policies and measures to strengthen domestic circulation and regulating competition in the new energy vehicle sector.
It was emphasized at the meeting that strengthening domestic circulation is a strategic move to promote stable and long-term economic growth. Efforts should be made to actively implement specific initiatives to boost consumption and optimize policies for trade-ins of consumer goods.
Top political adviser stresses expansion of consumer demand
Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, called on Wednesday for the comprehensive expansion of domestic demand, emphasizing its strategic importance in sustaining long-term healthy economic development and meeting people's growing needs for a better life.
Wang, who is also chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made the remarks when attending a symposium in Beijing.
