MOSCOW - Russia remains ready for further talks with Ukraine but has not received proposals for a meeting from Kyiv, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday.

"They want to see this dialogue in Washington, they want to see it in Europe, allegedly," Peskov said.

The comments were made after US President Donald Trump said Monday that the United States will send weapons to Ukraine through the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and threatened "severe tariffs" targeting Russia if a ceasefire deal is not reached in 50 days.

The spokesperson said Trump's statements are "very serious", and something in them is addressed personally to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"We certainly need time to analyze what was said in Washington," he added.

Russia and Ukraine held two rounds of direct talks on May 16 and June 2 in Istanbul, Turkiye. Putin previously said that both sides agreed to hold a third round of talks after the completion of the exchange of prisoners of war and the transfer of bodies of fallen soldiers as negotiated in previous talks.
