102-year-old veteran recalls war, hails China's rise

Ma Zhangsuo, 102, is the last surviving veteran of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) in Yanchi county, Ningxia Hui autonomous region. He has lived through China's key historical moments, including the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-53) and the "Two Bombs, One Satellite" project.
"I never imagined life would be so good today," he said, moved by the nation's rapid industrial and tech growth. "I hope our country grows stronger day by day."
