Flood monitoring on rail network
To safeguard the rail network and ensure it can cope with heavy rainfall during the rainy season, Chinese railway operators are taking multi-pronged moves to battle flood hazards. China Railway Taiyuan Group has intensified the monitoring of weather changes, establishing a shared mechanism with related departments and releasing warnings on a daily basis. Its Datong West Power Supply Section is also using 6C video analysis to monitor locations such as tunnel entrances and overpass bridges, and has formed emergency repair teams to conduct timely inspections on areas prone to water damage.
Yuan strengthens against greenback
The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, strengthened 29 pips to 7.1506 against the US dollar on Monday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day. The central parity rate of the yuan against the US dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the opening of the interbank market each business day.
