JERUSALEM -- Israel intends to send a delegation to Qatar to discuss a ceasefire-hostages agreement with Hamas, Israel's state-owned Kan TV reported on Saturday.

The channel added that the delegation is expected to leave for Qatar on Sunday.

On Friday, Hamas said in a statement that it has delivered a "positive" response to mediators over a Gaza ceasefire proposal, adding it is "seriously prepared to immediately enter into a round of negotiations on the mechanism for implementing this framework."

Kan TV cited Israeli sources as saying that following Hamas' response, the Israeli side believes "there is something to work with."

Israel's Channel 12 News also reported the planned departure of an Israeli delegation to Qatar, quoting a senior Israeli official as saying, "It is possible to reach an agreement. This opportunity should not be missed."

However, he noted that there are also significant gaps, and stressed the need to coordinate expectations with the Israeli public, "which is eager for an immediate deal."

The recently proposed agreement outlines a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza.
