On the occasion of the 54th World Environment Day, the State Grid Zhengzhou Power Supply Company and State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company jointly launched a cross-regional collaboration. Led by professional teams, the companies initiated the "Power Protection for Clear Water Northward Conveyance and Joint Construction of a Green Ecological Barrier" themed activity at the headwater area of the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project in Jiuzhong town, Nanyang city. Through technical discussions, practical exchanges and ecological advocacy, teams from both regions consolidated the foundation of power supply, enhanced regional environmental awareness, and empowered the national project of "perpetual northward conveyance of clear water" with green electricity.

At the headwater central power supply office, a professional discussion focusing on the special geographical environment and ecological protection requirements was underway. Technical experts from Zhengzhou, Dengzhou in Nanyang, and the local area gathered to exchange ideas on grid layout optimization, innovative equipment operation and maintenance, and coordinated emergency response. They also shared experiences on the full-process environmental protection and soil and water conservation management of grid projects. "Zhengzhou has implemented an 'ecology-friendly' construction model in grid development, integrating environmental requirements into the entire project cycle through route optimization, application of energy-saving equipment, and control of construction pollution," said a representative from Zhengzhou Company's Construction Department. The cross-regional power transmission environmental practices shared provided reference for the grid construction.

This cross-city collaboration is an innovative practice of ecological protection in the power industry. As the main power supply guarantor for the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, Nanyang Company has continuously strengthened environmental protection control throughout the project, ensuring harmonious coexistence between power facilities and the ecological environment. Teams from both regions combined their technical strengths with a green mission, not only ensuring consistent power supply for the project but also protecting the surrounding ecological environment.

After the symposium, participants visited the headwater square to explore the history of the "first gate" construction and gain an intuitive understanding of the green collaborative practice of "electricity + water diversion". The stable operation of the power supply system provided solid support for the water diversion project. "From emergency power supply to energy saving and carbon reduction, power technology has become the invisible guardian of the water diversion project," said a participant after the visit, adding that they would continue promoting the application of green and low-carbon technologies to facilitate the coordinated development of ecological protection and project operation.

In Zouzhuang village, Jiuzhong town, team members listened to stories of relocated residents and felt the spirit of "sacrificing the small family for the greater good". In the village square, they popularized knowledge of safe electricity use, water conservation, energy saving, and ecological protection among villagers through the use of exhibition boards, on-site explanations, and distribution materials. Practical suggestions such as "keeping the refrigerator seven-tenths full can save hundreds of yuan in electricity bills annually" and "letting hot dishes cool before putting them in the refrigerator is more energy-efficient" attracted the attention of residents. The team also distributed environmentally friendly products printed with slogans such as "green electricity use" and "ecological protection" to villagers, integrating green concepts into daily life scenarios.

"The activity has made us realize that water diversion is not easy and has also taught us money-saving and environmentally friendly living tips," said Ms Wang, a villager, reflecting the effectiveness of ecological advocacy. By translating professional knowledge into easily understandable expressions, the team successfully built a bridge between power services and public participation, promoting a social consensus that "everyone is responsible for the northward conveyance of clear water".

The South-to-North Water Diversion Project is a great undertaking that benefits both the present and future generations. The two power supply companies stated that they will deepen the cross-regional cooperation mechanism and establish a power supply linkage platform. By sharing technology, they will enhance the level of ecological protection and safeguard the ecological environment with "green grids". Moreover, they are committed to injecting more power wisdom into the construction of a beautiful China and ensuring that clean water continues to nourish the northern regions.
