State Grid replaces transformers to ensure summer electricity supply

To inspect the status of the newly replaced No 1 and No 2 35 kilovolt transformers, maintenance personnel from State Grid arrived at the 220 kV Changzheng Substation on June 12. After close inspection, the two transformers were found to be in good operational condition.
The 220 kV Changzheng Substation, located in the Binhai Development Zone of Keqiao district, Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, covers an area of 3.24 hectares. Acting as a crucial power hub for surrounding industrial parks, the No 1 and No 2 main transformers at Changzheng Substation were put into operation in 2007 and 2008, respectively. Due to long-term heavy power loads, the equipment has shown signs of aging and needs replacement.
From June 3 to 6, State Grid carried out necessary replacement work on the two transformers at the 220 kV Changzheng Substation, which involved hoisting operations. To enhance safety control at the production site and strictly implement requirements for working at heights, the company meticulously planned and organized on-site surveys and maintenance plan discussions, and formulated special hoisting plans for high-risk procedures such as current transformer hoisting.
During the maintenance work, the company conducted comprehensive safety supervision through a combination of remote and on-site monitoring. Adhering to strict inspection protocols, the staff members reinforced their safety responsibilities, conducted process supervision of key points and ensured no violations occurred on site.
Furthermore, at the maintenance site, young employees, under the leadership of team leaders, carried out the dismantling of transformers and installation work. By continuously deepening on-the-job training at the site, the company aims to refine the equipment maintenance capabilities of young employees during maintenance tasks.
The successful completion of the current transformer replacement work represents an upgrade in the reliability of the electricity supply during the peak summer season in the Binhai area. As the spring inspection comes to an end, State Grid said it will continue to enhance various types of maintenance operations, achieve a dual upgrade in maintenance capabilities and power supply reliability and ensure a stable conclusion to the spring inspection work. They will further strengthen the foundation for ensuring power supply during the peak summer season and provide crucial support for a stable power supply.
