In the early summer morning, the Zhangye National Wetland Park in Gansu province presents a breathtaking desert oasis with shimmering blue waters and lush greenery.

Located on the northern outskirts of the city, the park is a vital ecological system. It is aptly referred to as the "kidney of the city".

Spanning 62,000 mu (4,135 hectares), this wetland ecosystem is a crucial component of Zhangye's oasis in the arid inland region, forming a green barrier for the ecological security of the oasis and the lower reaches of the Heihe River.

This green sanctuary enhances the city's beauty and plays a pivotal role in maintaining the region's fragile ecological balance. It is a testament to the importance of preserving natural habitats in urban areas for a sustainable future.
