Technological companies from both home and abroad are set to showcase their latest innovation and offerings at the upcoming 11th China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair (CSITF), which will be held from June 11 to 13 in Shanghai, organizers said Thursday at a news conference.

Hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Government, this year's fair will gather nearly 1,000 companies from about 20 countries and regions, focusing on open cooperation and trade in the technology sector to empower new quality productive forces and sustainable development.

With an exhibition area of 35,000 square meters, the fair will comprehensively showcase the key technological advances and breakthroughs in diverse sectors, such as interactive robots, genetic testing, embodied intelligence, low-altitude economy, smart ships, energy storage, digital retail and a wide range of industrial application solutions of artificial intelligence.

Notably, special exhibition zones for intelligent marine engineering and equipment, consumption and commercial technology will be established at the fair for the first time this year, debuting a number of new products and technologies from 14 companies and institutions.

This year's fair will also feature more comprehensive international cooperation. As the guest city of honor, Glasgow will convene 18 local exhibitors from fields such as shipbuilding, marine technology, smart building sensors and smart wearables. The United Nations Industrial Development Organization will showcase advances in areas such as carbon neutrality, sustainable materials and green production, and companies from Spain, France and the United States will demonstrate various projects on green energy, shipping services, new materials and more.

Since its launch in 2013, the fair has played a significant role in promoting the imports and exports of technology, as well as expanding international technology cooperation networks. To date, the fair has attracted a total of over 9,500 companies from more than 30 countries and regions, with the past two editions each seeing over 500 intended transaction projects, said Zhu Min, head of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, at the conference.
