The Hami Song and Dance Troup will perform the music and dance production Weiwu Yizhou (The Dance of Yizhou) at the Beijing Century Theater on Friday and Saturday.

Inspired by the discovery of an ancient Yizhou musical score approximately a century ago in the Mogao Grottoes of Dunhuang, Gansu province, the performance serves as a theatrical interpretation of the historical legacy and propagation of Yizhou's ancient music, which hails from the Hami region in the present-day Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. Originating during the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), Yizhou music evolved over centuries, culminating in a refined artistic form during the early Tang Dynasty (618-907).
