LONDON - The British government on Tuesday announced a raft of 100 new sanctions targeting the Russian military, energy, financial sectors and those conducting information operations against Ukraine.
Britain said it was also working to lower the 60 US dollars per barrel oil price cap, further restricting oil revenues for Russia.
On the same day, the European Union approved its 17th package of sanctions against Russia, as the bloc was trying to intensify the pressure on Russia to bring about a ceasefire in Ukraine.
Responding to the sanctions, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that Russia will never bow to ultimatums from anyone, adding that it was clear Europe wanted to re-arm Ukraine to continue the conflict.
