China urges US to stop tech suppression

China on Friday urged the United States to immediately stop its relentless suppression of Chinese technology companies and the AI industry, vowing that it will take resolute measures to safeguard its development rights and the legitimate interests of Chinese enterprises.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian made the remarks after the US issued guidance warning companies not to use Huawei's Ascend AI chips.
Speaking at a daily news briefing, Lin accused the US of overstretching the concept of national security, abusing export controls and "long-arm jurisdiction," and wantonly imposing malicious blockades and suppression on China's chip products and artificial intelligence industry.
"These actions severely violate market rules, disrupt the stability of global industrial and supply chains, and seriously harm the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises," Lin said.
Beijing firmly opposes and absolutely does not accept such practices, the spokesman said, urging Washington to correct its wrongdoings of protectionism and unilateral bullying.
