Charles Michel, former president of the European Council, former Belgian prime minister, and distinguished professor at CEIBS, said in an interview on May 9 that China and EU should deepen their cooperation when the two parties celebrate this year the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations.

While there are differences between China and EU, they have common challenges to address, such as climate change and global health. They both seek more stability, security, predictability and prosperity for their people.

As a believer in win-win partnerships, Michel said it is possible to reach agreements where one plus one is more than two. As to the issue of electric vehicles, he said the efforts made by both sides can lead to solutions.
