12 space computing satellites launched

China launched a Long March-2D carrier rocket on Wednesday, placing a new constellation of space computing satellites into orbit. The launch marks a significant advancement in the country's space-based computing capabilities. The rocket blasted off at 12:12 pm from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China. The newly launched 12 computing satellites are the first batch of what will become the "Three-Body Computing Constellation". Wang Jian, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering and director of Zhejiang Lab, said the "Three-Body Computing Constellation" is a large-scale space computing infrastructure designed to host thousands of satellites with a total computing power of 1,000 peta operations per second upon completion.

Internet conference to be held in Anhui

The 2025 China Internet Civilization Conference is scheduled to take place in Hefei, capital of Anhui province, from June 10 to 11, officials announced on Wednesday. The event aims to promote a healthier and more responsible online environment, according to Yang Jianwen, deputy director of the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission. The conference is co-hosted by the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission and the Anhui provincial government. It will feature an opening ceremony, a main forum and 14 sub-forums, Yang said.

Ex-chairman gets death with reprieve

Zhao Weiguo, former chairman of Tsinghua Unigroup, a major Chinese integrated circuit manufacturer, was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve over crimes of embezzlement, providing illegal profits for relatives and friends and harming the interests of the listed companies by a court in Jilin province on Wednesday. From 2018 to 2021, taking advantage of his position, Zhao conspired with Li Luyuan to have a company controlled by Li purchase properties at low prices that should have been purchased by Tsinghua Unigroup, thereby obtaining profits from illegally appropriating State-owned assets, the Intermediate People's Court of Jilin city said.
