China-Sudan strategic partnership reiterated

As this year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-Sudan strategic partnership, Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged both nations to implement the important consensus reached by their leaders to further develop bilateral ties for the benefits of both peoples.

He made the remarks on Wednesday when meeting with the outgoing Sudanese Ambassador to China Omer Siddig, who is about to conclude his tenure and return home assuming the post as Sudan's new foreign minister.

Wang extended congratulations to Siddig and commended his contributions to advancing China-Sudan relations.

He also reaffirmed China's firm support for Sudan's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, as well as its pursuit of peace, stability, and development, adding that China will continue providing humanitarian assistance and support within its capacity.

Siddig expressed gratitude for China's long-standing valuable support and humanitarian aid to Sudan, pledging continued staunch support for China's core interests.

As the new foreign minister, he vowed to advance the China-Sudan strategic partnership and jointly implement China's major global initiatives.

Sudan attaches great importance to and will take active measures to protect the safety of Chinese citizens on its soil, he added.

Both sides discussed Sudan's domestic situation, as well as China-Africa and China-Arab mutually beneficial cooperation.
