The advancements of digital technology and social network seem have blurred the boundaries between the professionals and those who aren't. While full-time photographers have gained more public exposure online, reaching out to more people, the amateurs are also taking advantage of the digital era and sharing their creativity online.

At this year's PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai, works of 20 creators whose photographic posts so far have attracted, in total, more than 33 million followers online, offered varied perspectives.

More than 100 galleries and art institutions at home and from abroad brought still images, motion images, installations and works of mixed media to the 10th edition of PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai, held by Meta Media from May 8 to 11 at Shanghai Exhibition Centre.

It spotlights the diversity of image art, its new forms, emerging artists in the field and collecting trends.

The fair also inaugurated Shanghai International Contemporary Photo Festival, to be followed by a dozen exhibitions at venues across Shanghai, to engage the public in the discussions of the changing face of photography in a digital age.
