Misty pillars create Avatar-like landscape in Zhangjiajie

On Monday, as dawn broke over the karst mountains of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in Hunan province, an otherworldly spectacle unfolded thanks to the intermittent rainy weather.
Rolling seas of mist enveloped the quartz-sandstone pillars, creating the illusion of floating mountains that drew gasps and excited screams from awestruck visitors.
The park's recent weather pattern of alternating rain and sunshine is nature's perfect recipe for crafting these ethereal cloud formations.
Many tourists remarked that the surreal scene reminded them of the Hallelujah Mountains of Pandora from James Cameron's blockbuster Avatar, which drew inspiration from Zhangjiajie's unique geological features during its production.
