China confident in Russia-Ukraine peace efforts


In response to the willingness shown lately by Russia and Ukraine to peace talks, the Foreign Ministry on Monday expressed hope that the parties will continue dialogue and negotiations to reach a peace agreement.
"On the issue of the Ukraine crisis, China's position has been consistently clear, and we support all efforts dedicated to peace," Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian told a regular press conference in Beijing.
"It is hoped that the parties concerned will continue to work through dialogue and negotiation to reach a fair, enduring and binding peace agreement acceptable to various parties, and ultimately realize a political settlement of the Ukraine crisis," he said.
Lin said Beijing has always believed that "dialogue and negotiation is the only viable way out of the Ukraine crisis."
"China is ready to act in accordance with the aspirations of the parties concerned, work together with the international community, and continue to play a constructive role for the final resolution of the crisis and the realization of a lasting peace," he said.
