Harbin Institute hosts 10th doctoral student mass wedding


The Harbin Institute of Technology in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, hosted its 10th group wedding for doctoral students on Sunday, marrying 116 couples in a single lavish ceremony.
The couples walked hand in hand into the hall of happiness, surrounded by the blessings of their teachers, friends, and family members.
The institute gave each pair of newlyweds custom-made diamond rings, golden plates, and vacuum cups as gifts.
The "Sincerity" diamonds, were developed by the School of Astronautics' infrared thin film and crystal team.
Since the first event in 2013, the group wedding ceremonies for doctoral students at HIT have instigated romantic journeys of happy matrimony for 559 couples.
Chen Rui, vice-president of the institute, encouraged the newlyweds to carry forward the fine tradition of HIT by integrating their life ideals and family happiness into the great cause of the country's prosperity and rejuvenation while writing a vigorous chapter of youth on the road to Chinese-style modernization.
"I hope that you will always cherish the original intention of love and, with the belief of weathering storms together, embark on a happier and more fulfilling life," she said.
Gao Qingwei and Li Lili, doctoral students from the School of Environment, expressed that they would embark on a new journey in life with the school's blessings and expectations to make their life together shine brightly in the endeavor to construct a stronger country and revitalize the nation.
