Shanghai launches flight changing trial service

Passengers are now able to change their flight tickets between different carriers while flying between the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and the Beijing Capital International Airport after a new service was put into trial operation on Tuesday (May 6), according to the Shanghai Airport (Group) Co Ltd.
As a new step to optimize the express flights between Beijing and Shanghai, the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport has decided to launch the flight change service jointly with China Eastern Airlines and Air China. The trial operation will last until August, with plans to further upgrade the service in accordance with passengers' feedback, the Shanghai Airport (Group) said.
Passengers holding one-way flight tickets between the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and the Beijing Capital International Airport with a 40 percent discount or below are allowed to change their flight to the ones operated either by China Eastern or Air China on the same date after making up the fare difference.
Nearly 80 flights are operating between the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and the Beijing Capital International Airport daily, making it the busiest route in China. Considering that about 90 percent of the Shanghai Hongqiao-Beijing Capital flights are operated by China Eastern or Air China, the new service is believed to further meet passengers' needs for business trips and high-frequency traveling with a more secure, convenient and efficient travel experience.
