The Dutch Golden Art produced a number of painters throughout the 17th century whose revolutionized brushwork, composition and use of colors reshaped people's ways to see the world. Salomon van Ruysdael was one who gained fame for the depiction of expanses of sky and clouds and his command of impressive light effect.
Promenade En Bac (Ferry Ride), a landscape painting of Ruysdael, was, after more than two centuries, re-rendered into an enamel version by Suzane Rohr, a trailblazing figure in enameling art in Geneva, while on the miniature surface of a 18k gold watch. The keepers of artistic creativity living in separate times, places and trades came together to be blended into a small timepiece.
