China Southern Airlines will continue to optimize the route network from South China to Australia, with the increasing number of two-way travelers.

As the main Chinese carrier running the China-Australia route, China Southern Airlines operates 14 flights from Guangzhou, Guangdong province, to Sydney and three flights from Shenzhen in Guangdong to Sydney per week, said Liao Yongxu, vice-president of the sales division, commercial steering committee, China Southern Airlines Co.

China Southern Airlines and Destination New South Wales jointly held an event in Guangzhou on Wednesday to promote air routes and the Vivid Sydney 2025 light and music festival.

The festival, to be held in Sydney from May 23 to June 14, will be themed around dreams and divided into five main thematic areas. It will integrate light, music, creativity, and food to showcase Sydney's vitality, said Jennifer Tung, regional director, North Asia, Destination New South Wales.

China has been an essential source of travelers to New South Wales, with about 469,000 Chinese visitors travelling to the Australian state last year.
