China has always been committed to promoting a ceasefire and peace talks and has never provided lethal weapons to any party to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said.

Lin made the remarks at a regular news conference on Friday in response to reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said China was supplying weapons and gunpowder to Russia.

China has also controlled its dual-use items strictly, Lin said.

"The Ukrainian side knows this very clearly. It has also said in public that a majority of Russia's imports of weapon components come from the United States and other Western countries," Lin said. "China is firmly opposed to groundless accusations and political manipulation."
