At the opening of his solo exhibition Shrinking of the Present, Whereas…, Tan Yingjie introduced a self-directed performance called When the Things Come to Us, named after one of his installations on display. The performers acted, danced, and maneuvered between the works displayed at the Wind H Art Center in Beijing.
The performance addressed Tan's concerns about people's mentalities after living in ever-changing cities, the lure of metropolitan vibes, and the bewilderment that accompanies the hustle and bustle.
