In April, the Yalu River Estuary Wetland in Dandong, Liaoning province, welcomes its annual spectacle of bird migration, as tens of thousands of bar-tailed godwits, great knots, dunlins and other shorebirds arrive from Oceania, creating spectacular airborne waves of birds at this World Natural Heritage site, attracting numerous tourists and photographers.

On April 15, a series of activities kicked off, jointly organized by Dandong city's publicity and forestry departments. The event invited journalists from across China to gather in Dandong to experience its unique ecology and magnificent congregation of birds.

The Yalu River Estuary Wetland is an important stopover for bird migration in Northeast Asia, with abundant tidal flat resources where over 5 million migratory birds stop each year, making it a crucial node for global biodiversity conservation.
