'AI butler' assists maintenance plans in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province

Staff members from State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company have used an "AI Maintenance Butler" to generate a three-dimensional operational plan for the 10-kilovolt Chunzhen Line in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province, in just 5 minutes.
Subsequently, the staff members accurately controlled the maintenance power outage within two substations, ensuring that eight surrounding stores and a school were unaffected by the power outage throughout the process.
In the past, creating maintenance and repair plans required manual verification and confirmation, and the preparation and safety procedures relied on manual compilation. Due to variations in annotations on maintenance drawings by various workers, there were often misunderstandings during implementation, which affected maintenance plans.
To strengthen maintenance management and enhance power supply reliability, State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company collaborated with local universities to develop the AI Maintenance Butler system. This system breaks down the maintenance process into 32 standard modules, optimizes construction sequences through intelligent algorithms, reduces single power outage durations by 30 percent, and includes 3D visualization capabilities to transform complex lines into a single model. Additionally, the system can directly connect to equipment databases and automatically annotate key safety measures with a hazard identification rate of 99.8 percent.
Since its pilot application early this year, the system has generated a total of 67 maintenance plans, reducing residential power outage time by some 12,000 hours during the spring maintenance period. This is equivalent to providing each household in the area with an additional 50 hours of uninterrupted power, which injects new energy into the safe operation of the city's power grid.
